2002 Divisional Annual Meeting
Saturday, April 20, 2002, at 3pm, division chair, Scott Harkey called the meeting to order. Ten USFA members over 18 years were present, representing 2 clubs.
Division secretary, Terry Harkey, read the minutes from the last meeting. The chair entertained a motion from Clint Bowers
to approve, Doc Matthews, seconded. Minutes
were approved unanimously.
Division treasurer, Lydia Rich, read the treasurers report. Motion to accept was made by Sharron Settlemire, seconded by Clint Bowers. Treasurers report was approved unanimously.
Old Business was discussed
Ø Mississippi Gulf Coast Club was successfully moved to Louisiana Division and all the paperwork has been finalized by the USFA.
Ø Little Rock is still out of the loop for divisionals, Jackson likely for next year.
Ø Bylaw amendments discussed last year were presented by Scott including
o Name change of president to chair
o Boundaries reflecting the Gulf Coast move
o Head Tax of $1 per fencer for largest tournament in each club
The bylaw amendments were read and approve unanimously
New Business
Ø Clint Bowers opened discussion about possibility of having an Ark-La-Miss Division Circuit, similar to the Southwest Section Circuit to encourage more attendance at already established but smaller division tournaments. It was moved and seconded that this plan be adopted and Clint to oversee the development for next season.
Ø New Officers were elected. Scott, Terry & Lydia agreed to stay in their positions. Doc Matthews was unanimously accepted as Vice-chair.
Ø Susan Falbaum moved to accept this slate of officers, including Clint Bowers as the ALM CDC, seconded by Sharron.
Ø Another amendment proposed to establish the Ark-La-Miss Division Circuit Chair as a member of the officers. This will be brought up at the next meeting of the division which will take place at either JO qualifiers or Rose Condon Memorial in December or January.
Scott accepted a motion to adjourn. Unanimoulsy approved. We happily complied by leaving.
