This page will keep our members and neighbors informed of recent news on fencers and their families who have been displaced due to Katrina. Please forward news to the webslave.
If you would like to offer housing to fencers or their families, please contact us. We are creating a list of housing that will be available when these folks are accounted for and have had time to assess their needs.
Just a geographic note: Katrina's cataclysmic damage was mainly in New Orleans and areas east, the Mississippi Gulf, Alabama Gulf and areas north. While inland, Jackson, Hattiesburg and Laurel, Ms. were hit very hard. Baton Rouge took some damage, but is doing ok. Lafayette is pretty much untouched and long with Shreveport, Ruston, Monroe and Alexandria is serving as evacuation shelter for homeless. Mississippi and Alabama took heavy damage on the coast, but is not flooded, so recovery efforts will begin immediately following rescues.
