Who Fences Who?

If you are new to fencing especially fencing larger events, you may become confused over who fences who in the direct elimination rounds.  These tables were suggested by Maestro Alex Beguinet to reduce the amount of guesswork (and math) in figuring out who you're fencing or if you got a bye.  If you're fencing in an event with 30 people and you are fencing number 31 - then you got a bye.  Included are tables for up to 256 (for national events and Pouj) :)

If you prefer to do the math, add 1 to the table (i.e. 33, 65, 129, etc) and subtract your seed number.  The remainder will be the number fencer you will fence. (i.e. you are seeded 31 is round results.  31 from 65 is 34.  You will fence the fencer seeded 34th.)
