Div 3 Men's Epee - Clint Bowers (SFC)
72nd
Garrett Curole (SFC) 215th
Gary Curole (SFC) 208th
Terry Gamble (LSC)
194th
Brandon Sisson (TFC)
-withdrawn
Unable to check on Sisson. Clint Bowers was seeded 19th after pools and
then lost his first d.e. and his new cd player. Garrett & Gary Curole were
spotted in pools doing ok. Gary won one. Terry Gamble was also
spotted, but missed an interview post fencing.
U19 Men's Epee - Jack Harkey (SFC) 125th
Historically bad day for Jack in a tough tough event. There were 3 U's in
this event!
Vet 50 Women's Epee - Terry Harkey (SFC)
- 16th
Sharron Settlemire (SFC) 13th
Sharron and Terry probably had the most fun of anyone during the week fencing
the Veteran Women's Epee event. Everyone is so nice (mostly) and it is a
much different game from the younger fencers. Sharron won 3 bouts and
Terry won 1 putting both of them off the bottom. After pools, Sharron
seeded 11th - won her first d.e. ended up 13th. Terry was seeded 17th -
won her first d.e. and ended up 16th.
Div 2 Women's Foil - Diane Herriott (Unatt)
- withdrawn
LeAnn Moore (SFC) - withdrew
Bethanie Rich (SFC) - 15th
LeAnn withdrew earlier in the week. Diane's name was called for not checking in
- so it is unclear yet if she made the event. Bethanie fenced well going
5-1 in her pool. She went on to get a bye into the round of 128 and then
won her next 3 d.e.'s into the 16. She lost to the incredibly fast and
talented Catherine McDermont [8th in Y14WE] from Salle Mauro.
U19 Women's Epee - Dorothy Hubbard - 39th
Evelyn Scarborough (SFC) 28th
This is almost too traumatizing to write about. After pools, both of them
made them cut with Dorothy seeded 31st and Evelyn 34th. If you do the
math, that adds up to 65. If two numbers add up to the number in the
direct elimination table, you are fencing each other - and that was the harsh
reality that one of our best fencers would be eliminated in the very first
round. It was absolutely a heartbreak for friends of both.
Evelyn won the bout. She advanced to the next round and lost in that round - probably lots of contributing factors, but both she and Dorothy in typical Sharron Settlemire taught fashion were in good spirits by dinner time.

Robert Thorton (LSC) 44th
Div 1A Women's Epee - Evelyn Scarborough (SFC) 2nd -see front page news story
Former Magnet Fencer Cody Lutke fenced in the Div 2 Men's epee. He did well in pools, but Cody's evaluated himself by saying... - well.. you ask him.
Sunday, June 29
Div 2 Men's Foil - Jack Harkey (SFC)
182nd
Jim Narens (Unatt) 210th
Jack went 5-1 in pools and Jim went 3-3. Jack into the 128 round, but lost
his first D.E.
Div 3 Men's Sabre - Lee London (CMFC)
119th
Crushed in pools, Lee came back and nearly had the first D.E. in his grasp.
He was fencing extremely well and ended 14-14 with his opponent who was seeded
18th. The final touch was not his.
U16 Men's Epee - Jack Bailey (SFC) 88th
Div 2 Women's Sabre - Bethanie Rich (SFC) 49th
Div 2 Women's Epee - Catherine Vanderloos
(SFC) 76th
Catherine continued to shine - improving and improving each bout. She came
very close to tilting her world!
Saturday, June 28
Women's Div 3 - Catherine Vanderloos (SFC) - 44th
LeAnn Moore
(SFC) 96th,
Sharron Settlemire
(SFC) 125th
Catherine and LeAnn got a bye to the round of 128. Catherine went on to
win her first D.E. Sharron had to fight her way into the round of 128; both
Sharron and LeAnn lost in that round.
Y-14 Men's Epee -Jake Bailey (SFC) 102nd
Jake had a great time in Y14 pools. Amazingly deceptive, Y14 and the other
aged events are very tough.
Div 3 Men's Foil - Brandon Sisson (TFC) 188th
Lee London
(CMFC) 213th
No interview available on Brandon, but Lee said he is adjusting to the national
pace. Lee and Brandon participated in the historic event of MORE than 256
fencers - necessitating a tableau of 512! First time in USFA history.
Former Magnet Fencers Lowery Rogers (FIT) and Krisi Bevis (ATLANTA) came out 43rd in Sabre -Div 3 and 34th Women's Epee event respectively.
