Fence for the Cure

I would like to thank everyone in the fencing community that helped   make the first Fence for the Cure a great success. I greatly appreciate the support that each and every one of you gave whether it was financial support or donating your time.

I would like to start out thanking LSU-S faculty members Dr. Severn Doughty and Dr. Tim Winter for securing the gym as our venue. Thanks to our referees Jack Harkey, Michelle Thomas, Sharron Settlemire and Scott Harkey for the donation of their time. I could not have gotten this all together without help from Terry Harkey and my mother, Terry Bryant. Through their guidance and advice, I was able to put the tournament together to make it happen. I also offer my thanks to the Ark-La-Miss Division for sanctioning the event and donating the medals for our finalists. I would like to thank Sword Masters for sponsoring the strips.

To each of the wonderful ladies that came to present the medals to the finalists, I would like to give a special thank you; you are the inspiration for this tournament, and the reason that I was driven to make it a success.

Most of all, I thank each and every one of the fencers that participated in the event. Without your participation and hard work at getting pledges and support from the community, our event wouldn’t have been a success.

I thank you all, and I look forward to the 2003 Fence for the Cure, and hope that we can make it bigger and better than this year’s.
