Junior Mixed Epee in Dallas

            The 2002-2003 fencing season continued with Junior Mixed Epee competition hosted by La Touche’ Fencing Club in Dallas. The Ark-La-Miss Division was represented in the final by Clint Bowers, who took 3^rd overall and 2^nd in the men’s category. The competition format was grueling. Thirteen fencers fenced a round-robin format to seed the direct elimination tableau. Bowers had an 8-4 record in the round robin seeding him 3^rd, and earning a bye into the round of eight. In the round of eight, he defeated David Segal of Lone Star Fencing Center.  He was defeated in the round of four by Justin Mack, a new but very good fencer from La Touche Fencing Club. Even though the field was small, it was tough;  3 B’s, 3 D’s, and 1 E.
