Dr. Cathy Vanderloos jumped into the Veteran-40 Women's Epee event Thursday afternoon. Among her pool opponents were Maria Duthie and Louise Leighton. She did not score a victory in pools but refused to stay on the bottom with a resounding first D.E. victory over Pathi 10-6. In the round of 32, she drew 2nd seed Joyce Jones. Dr. V. remained competitive with Jones in the first part of the bout; however, Jones began successful aggressive attacks against her and maintained her lead to win 10-5. Cathy finished 31st.
